Six Tracks for March 2014

Oh, 2014… the months just keep marching on, aye?

Then again, hello Spring! =)
Here’s the six-track playlist for March.

The Pretty Reckless - Heaven Knows
The band’s sophomore album Going To Hell is out today and here’s the first single. Initially I thought the band was just Taylor Momsen’s novel experiment with black kohl liner and honky tonk shoes to channel her inner “good girl gone bad” (which coincidentally is the title of Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meester’s Cobra Starship collab). But actually, little Jenny Humphrey can sing rock and her voice sounds pretty awesome. Kinda reminds me of Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett and a bit of Goldfrapp when she goes mellow.

Beck - Morning
In love with Beck’s Morning Phase album. There’s something uniquely meditative about his tracks that will give you some sort of zen-in-the-country type of vibe similar to the tracks on his golden album, Sea Change.

Coldplay - Magic
I can’t wait til 19 May, when Coldplay releases Ghost Stories. So far, the tracks they’ve released have been stuck in my ear for days; Midnight reminds me of a remixed Bon Iver track, Magic reminds me of happy sunrise drives on the West Coast. =)

 311 - Tranquility
311 is back with a new album and it’s pretty much a reminder of why we love them in the first place - bit of reggae, bit of rock, bit of grassroots and bit of punk. Stereolithic, is steps better than the last two studio albums but I wonder if they’ll ever come back with something as good as Transistor.

Pharell ft. Daft Punk - Gust of Wind
Whilst Happy is such a happy song, I’m much more in love with this track off Pharell’s G I R L. It’s slightly darker and a bit more mysterious, aptly like an innocuous gust of wind that gives you good chills. Can you imagine strutting down the road with this tune? I can!
A Great Big World - Already Home
A little cheesy for my liking, but it hits the spot because it takes me back to the time when I was in between two worlds: the single life in London and a long distance relationship with a boy from New York. If he sang this to me then I reckon I’d jump the gun and forget all doubts. Haha. But hey, look where we are now. All;s well

Enjoy! x
