The Shore Currently: I’m not busy, I’m productive.

Time’s gone by so quickly and I genuinely think there’s never enough of it to do everything. But one thing that came back to me the past week was how people should “stop the glorification of busy”. It’s been a rather crazy week but rather than calling it busy, I’m calling it productive and colourful. Work’s been really good and I’ve been enjoying the challenge. At the same time, I’ve been out and about discovering and re-discovering what the capital has to offer.
I’ve had a lot of highlights, to be fair.

VISIT
Had a nice long walk along Southbank and was yet again mesmerised by this city. I don’t think I can ever tire of London. It is after all my home now.

EAT
I ate out so much last week, I actually don’t think I had a proper homecooked meal, save for a bagel and salad brunch. Highlights of eating include the softest melt-in-your-mouth pork belly from Chisou and The Texan burger from Red Dog Saloon in Soho. Is there anything as gorgeous as a big, fat, juicy cheeseburger when you want something comforting? Yes - a big, fat, juicy cheeseburger WITH the softest brisket on top.

I also thoroughly enjoyed an intimate dinner party with some foodie friends. R & Y used to dine out a lot but haven’t been as much since having two adorable girls. They’re such great parents so to give them a gourmet experience without having to worry about childcare, we hired a personal chef who created a rather good menu for us to enjoy at the comforts of home.

DRINK
I really enjoyed post-work drinks with my team last Thursday. It was a rather manic but productive day for us at work so as a reward, we had drinks overlooking the City of London in Vertigo 42. I also enjoyed Saturday drinks at Pollen Street Social with my friend B where we had the Buena Vista Social and the PBJ (£13.50 each).

LOVE
That London is so full of artsy fartsy stuff from the streets to the shops. This week we saw the launch of Lumiere London, a festival of light featuring giant creatures and neon art peppered all over town. Bit of a ‘mare over the weekend for traffic, though!

READ
I bought a new cookbook with the aim of randomly opening a page and making what it says. I’d be first to raise my hands and say I’ve not even touched it since purchase but I swear, I’ll do it in the next week. Or two.

WRITE
Seriously, a backlog of food and beauty entries.

WATCH
I’ve just seen The Revenant and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Leo finally gets the Academy Award this year. Eddie Redmayne’s performance as Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl was pretty tight, too but… come on. It’s gotta be Leo’s time.

Speaking of awards, Sly Stallone’s surprise - but well-deserved - Golden Globe win for was endearing. I really enjoyed Creed as it reminded me so much of watching Rocky films with my dad.

LISTEN
Taking a break from the usual song choice and sharing James Corden’s carpool series with Adele. I looooove JC’s carpool series and this one’s my favourite so far!

AIM
To actually cook something from that darn cookbook.
To fight the bugs and viruses that’s lurking around. Can’t afford to be sick right now!

Can I sign up to be your guinea pig when you actually cook? 😉

I'd be way too shy to let you try my cooking! I might kill you with burnt lettuce.

My stomach literally growled when I saw that pork belly photo! xx
