Holiday Gift Guide: The Harrods Food Halls Collection

‘Tis the season of festivities… and holiday hampers. Truthfully, my idea of the perfect holiday hamper would consist of chocolate, Diptyque stuff, striped shirts, champagne, all sorts of pantry staples delivered by Ryan Gosling. Put a round-trip ticket somewhere exotic there and I’d whisk him away with my jingling bells.

I grew up surrounded by hampers. This time of the year with no fail, the anteroom at my parents’ home would be filled with Christmas hampers gifted by family friends, clients, and staff. I kid you not - you literally can’t see the floor! I do enjoy peering through each of them to get dibs on items I want, or things I could put together to create my own hamper. Because let’s admit it, most hampers have a mixed bag (har) of items you either love or don’t need (aka stuff that will sit forever in your pantry).

Unless of course, you know how to put a cool, luxurious hamper together… like Harrods. I mean they did, after all, put together the holy mother of all hampers aptly named “The Decadence”, which retails at £20,000.

They do have hampers that wouldn’t break the bank, so don’t worry. The Harrods Food Halls Hamper, in particular, retails for only £125. This is the hamper of all hampers to gift your favourite foodie friends.

Firstly, let me talk about that beautiful box it comes with.

Never mind traditional baskets, this box is everything! Beautifully crafted and branded with the Harrods insignia, it makes up a good storage box that would actually look nice in your house. I’m all up for reusable/practical/functional pressies and this really deserves top marks.

So what’s inside?

First off, pantry staples and tea time favourites!

Orange marmalade, cherry jam and English mustard. Now, admittedly growing up these were the hamper staples I disgarded. However, I’ve come to appreciate conserves in line with “adulting”. The lush marmalade is so convenient for quick brekkies and I can’t wait to use up the morello cherry jam to make some baked treats for work. And don’t you think English mustard is a winner for roasts? It’s great to have on the Christmas table.

These tea time favourites really lit up my day. Nothing beats a good cuppa of English breakfast tea and crunchy butter biccies to dunk with. I’m a huge fan of Harrods tea bags and loose leaf teas so trust me, these would make your tea time an experience!

I am, however, in love with the hazelnut-flavoured coffee. I’ve recently bought a mini cafetiere to help me power through the working day, and I can’t wait to add a little bit of lux during my coffee break!

Wine!

There’s also some proper adulting treats here… because Harrods knows all about balance.

I mean when you’re an adult, sometimes “balance” means a bottle of red and a bottle of white. Right?

Both wines are from the Maison Sichel vineyards in Bordeaux. I’ve actually had the Claret before, which is a beautiful easy to drink red. It’s perfect for winter drinking as it’s light with hints of smoke and spice. The Sauvignon Blanc is a crowd pleaser so you’d be a legend serving this during Christmas lunch or at parties. There’s also a corkscrew, which is a nice touch!

I was also happy to find my favourite choccy peppermint discs. These are seriously the best after dinner mints you can find.

Here’s the family picture!

Beautifully packaged and carefully curated, The Harrods Food Halls Hamper is definitely the hamper to give your favourite foodies.

Other Harrods Hampers I personally love:

The Angelina (choccy products from the Parisian favourite)
The Sloane (Harrods pantry favourites in archive packaging)
Daylesford Entertaining (the perfect package from Daylesford organic farms)
The Classic Cocktail Collection (artisan gins, rare rums, select whiskies, bubbly and mixers)
The Pamper Hamper (Laduree candles, rose champagne and truffles)
