It’s hard to not notice Le Meridien Bangkok’s design-focused entrance. Greeting you is a high glass wall with a statement mural of a guy (who reminds me of Josef Salvat) carrying a dog, and “Dots Dog” an iconic 3-meter sculpture by Thai artist Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch. It certainly gives an impression that Le Meridien Bangkok, whose roots are cultivated in design, aims to give you a culture-filled stay of calm in the busyness of the Thai capital.
It takes about 40 minutes to get to Le Meridien from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Located strategically in the center of Bangkok’s Silom business district, the 5-star luxury hotel is easily accessible to transport and leisurely activities. I was only staying for a night, so it was quite ideal to have essentials by your doorstep.
Checking in was so quick. Warm Thai smiles and a cool yogurt coffee drink welcomed me and I was very eager to relax after a long flight. I also had a dedicated “leisure activities pro” manager who was so good at giving tips on navigating the city. He also told me that I got upgraded to Le Meridien Bangkok’s iconic Circular Room. YAY!!!
The Circular Room
Boy was I in for a treat. Ever since I’ve seen Shaquille O’Neal’s bedroom on MTV Cribs (remember that?), I’ve always wanted a circular bed.
Et voila! The round signature bed was massive, and could possibly fit 8 of me in there (no joke). It grabbed my attention when we walked in and I couldn’t wait to be left alone to jump and roll in it.
Welcome treats of chocolate cannelles and macarons - oh yes!
The floor-to-ceiling windows give out breathtaking lighting in the room and views of the business district. Le Meridien’s Circular Room also includes a massive sofa, an in-room digital system, a touchscreen IP phone, a flat-screen LCD TV featuring international channels, an ergonomic chair with working desk, and welcome amenities. In-room wi-fi is complimentary.
I liked the bathroom, which has a rainfall shower head and a separate toilet room.
There’s a standalone tub which I love, and you can slide to open if you wanted to have a glimpse of your room whilst bubbling away in the depths of your bath.
Here’s what’s inside your closet - flipflops, ironing board, fluffy robe and flashlight.
It’s a comfy place for a pit stop and I can’t tell you how much I loved that circular bed!
Other amenities at Le Meridien Bangkok
The pool area is actually quite small. Frankly, it seemed good for a dip to cool down from the Bangkok heat but I can’t imagine it once peak season comes back. It’s a good enough place to lounge at, I suppose.
They have a gym and spa too, and it’s of decent size.
Their resident bar, Bamboo Chic Bar is pretty chic indeed with its super high ceiling and glass-lit floors. Serving an array of cocktails and a good selection of wine, it’s a great hotel bar that gets pretty busy during the weekend.
The hotel’s restaurant, Latest Recipe, is bright and huge. Whilst I wasn’t able to take proper photos of their breakfast buffet, I think this was the best breakfast buffet I’ve had during my trip (even better than Banyan Tree and those in Koh Samui/Koh Phangan). I’ve heard decent reviews of their lunch and dindin buffets too!
Verdict for Le Meridien Bangkok
Overall, I’d recommend Le Meridien Bangkok for quick trips in the city. I had intentions of staying there for just one night and booked another hotel nearer the airport so I could get ready for my early flight to Koh Samui. However, I was rather impressed by the service at Le Meridien that I ended up extending my stay there and cancelling my other hotel instead. It only took 35 minutes to the airport in the morning when traffic was light.
At £171 a night (which includes access to all amenities, complimentary drinks, and brekky), I thought this was well-priced. Service is seriously out of this world and the rooms are pretty modern and comfy. I remember thinking how funny it is that we’d spend so much more than that in Europe, for practically the same stuff, and actually at times, not-too-great service?
If you’re flying into Bangkok before heading out to the islands, I’d highly recommend Le Meridien Bangkok!

Wow that circular bed is amazing! Will bear this hotel in mind for our next Bangkok trip
Isn’t it great! Plenty of room to roll in too!
Love the look of the bar and that bathroom is my type of bathroom. Agree that the pool in peak period is more like a bath x
Yes, the bathroom as well was black marble lush!
That round bed!!! Next time I’m in Bangkok, I’m heading here! I love the look of that pool too. Luxe!
You’ll love Banyan Tree too!
How cool is that circular bed!!
I want one!!!
This place looks amazing Honey! From the round bed to the caneles on arrival, what a dreany place to stay & like you you, I think that sounds like a very fair price for something of this calibre! I went to Bangkok many years ago on a very tight student budget & let’s just say the dive of a hotel I had (blood stained floor seriously) means that if I ever go back, I’m going all out & I won’t be feeling any guilt about that!! Maybe this could be the place!
