Summer skincare is always a tricky one, because you never really know whether you’re having a dry summer or a wet summer in England. (On that note, I’m hoping the sunny Summer boat hasn’t sailed yet.) Still, I have my current seasonal favourites that complement my dose of SPF as well as the products I’ve loved and recommended through the years.
Here are a few bottles and jars I’ve been enjoying.
Estée Lauder’s Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche Skinscent - I’ve decided to park my forever Dyptique Do Son perfume oil in favour of this coconuty-vanilla concoction. I love how it stays on my skin for a looooong time and I love how it is summer in a spray! It’s definitely a sophisticated summer scent, like what you’d think sunset walks by the beach feels and smells like.
Beauty Cottage Tomato Sugar Scrub - I’ve been looking for a decent sugar scrub for a long time. I saw this in Thailand and brought back two jars. The smell is so delicious and I can’t stop feeling my skin after I use it in the shower!
Beauty Cottage Chilli & Black Pepper Intensive Spot Serum - Another purchase from Thailand. This anti-cellulite serum is meant to help firm up your skin, “shape your abdomen and thighs with natural extracts”. I didn’t really believe this but thought I’d give it a go anyway. To my surprise, I’ve seen less “dimples” in areas I’ve applied it to and feel like my abs are slowly finding their way back to surface. Whether it really does what it says on the label or whether Project Get Honey’s Abs Back is working, this product still helps firm up my skin.
Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence - Essence has always been one of those products that you either do or don’t use, because most people say it’s one of those unnecessary things. I, however, love this stuff and I think Kiehl’s hit the jackpot with this one. I used to use SK-II (which smelt funny) but switched to Kiehl’s. It’s 1) more affordable and 2) really effective. My skin always feels firm after usage and I swear, I feel like it’s been more radiant!
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II - If you remember how much I gushed about Skin Inc Serums from Singapore many years ago, then let me tell you, I’ve finally found the equivalent of my five faves in one bottle! I’ve only been using this for a month but I’ve absolutely seen reduced lines and my skin just feels so much smoother and radiant!
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum - I’ve started using this product early this year and I think it’s the eye serums of all serums. My perpetual panda eyes seem to have brightened a bit and it really kills all the puffiness. I use this day and night and I really love the the texture and the smell.
Beauty Cottage Red Rice Eye Cream - Yep, from Thailand again. I love the smell of it under my eyes. It has a natural de-puffing effect which I like. I put it on top of my eye serum and it’s actually a great primer for under-eye concealer!
MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ - So I’ve only gotten into the Prep + Prime Fix wagon and boy, am I ready to catch up. I love the smell of it (green tea, chamomile and cucumber). I also love the instant refreshing feel it gives me. It works as an awesome fixing spray, too. It’s the best I’ve tried (I prefer it to bloggers’ fave Urban Decay).
MAC Oil Control Lotion - I’ve got combination skin so the “dewy” effect doesn’t really sit well with me because I’m not too keen on shining bright like a diamond. I love mattifying products but I’ve yet to find a good moisturizer that does this. I’ve been using MAC’s Oil Control Lotion so far and not only does it hydrate my face, it also mattifies it. Gone’s the shine in photos and I don’t need to worry so much about dry skin as well!
Olay Regenerist 3-point Super Firming Serum - Fact: Seven years ago, I tried this serum and didn’t have quite a good reaction to it. I binned the bottle straight away. Fast forward to now, I actually love it. It’s the bottle I bring with me when I travel. The liquid is quite incandescent but it does give off a firming effect.
Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate - Let’s face it, with age comes lines and lines of memories and lines and lines on your face. The line-reducing products by Kiehl’s really KILLS thos lines. I mean I loved the line-reducing eye-brightening concentrate after all. Now I wasn’t too convinced at first when I tested the face concentrate on my hands in the shop cos of the smell but after a week using some samples, I had to go back to get it. It’s great and has much needed Vitamin C!
So there you go! My Summer 2017 favourites. Are there any products you’ve been loving this season? Do let me know! x

Ooooooh, I LOVE the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair oils, so, so soooo good. I even slather that stuff all over my husband and he seems to like it too.
I’m actually trying out the Clarins version of the same thing at the moment, and it’s not bad either.
Oooh which one do you prefer? I’ve been meaning to try the Clarins one, too but need to finish this one first!
I hadn’t heard of Beauty Cottage before but I love the packaging and the idea of a tomato scrub!
Me too, until I saw the shop in Thailand! There were so many people in the shop which was very cute too!
