Chaweng Regent Beach Resort: a little luxury in Koh Samui

The full moon revelry at Koh Phangan must’ve churned our spontaneity. We decided to cut our stay at Panviman Resort to head back to Koh Samui. We were due to fly back to Bangkok early the next morning anyway so we figured being closer to the airport made sense. On recommendation of a few travel blogs, we decided to go for Chaweng Regent Beach Resort and bid Koh Phangan farewell.

The ride to Koh Samui was quite eventful. We saw dark clouds hovering our group and by the time we got to the pier, it started raining. Just our luck! But nonetheless, it cleared up by the time we got to Chaweng Regent.

We were greeted by a really refreshing pandan tea drink and some delicious-smelling hand towels.

The Deluxe Room

For one night, Chaweng Regent’s Deluxe Room was surprisingly perfect. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I very pleased! The room was spacious, modern, and clean.

Plus it came with a spacious patio amidst tropical plants, where you can enjoy the cool breeze outdoors.

The bed was absolutely comfy and the sheets smelled like they have been properly cleaned (har har).

There’s plenty of closet space and they give you a beach bag to use as well whilst you’re exploring the island so you can keep other valuables in the safe and designer bags back in the room.

Welcome fruits are always a nice touch!

The toilets are massive! There’s a separate shower and a big hydrotherapy bath tub to calm your muscles.

I can’t tell you how much I loved this room with the spacious outdoor patio and spacious toilet. In this day and age of hotel living, comfort and space are key to a fantastic stay. Chaweng Regent’s Deluxe Room did not disappoint at all.

The room is 18,000 Baht with a breakfast buffet (£400) and it was well worth it.

The Resort

I must warn you, it had rained before we arrived so the resort looks a little gloomy. The clouds cleared up when we got there, and it was still quite warm though!. But imagine it when the sun is out and the weather is lovelier…

There’s a small gym with everything you need to maintain that bikini body.

And an open air library where you can lounge around whilst reading in peace.

They have two freshwater pools, one near the garden and one close to the beachfront.

The sand is quite nice and fine and the waters were clear and shallow.

The spa

I totally loved the spa at Chaweng Regent. The rooms were bright, airy, spacious, and they smell so good!!! I totally recommend getting one of the packages, particularly the Nirvana package where you get a hydrotherapy bath, a Thai white mud body wrap, an Aromatic massage and a Guinot facial which involves a facial massage with collagen and ginseng. All that for 5500 Baht or £120. It’s a bit on the pricier side for Thailand, but man - 210 minutes of bliss? Priceless!

Brekky

As we were only there one night, we made sure we got our bellies full before heading back to the airport.

There’s a wide array of hot food from all corners of the world, plus cereals, fruit, yogurt and all the healthy stuff you can imagine. I loved this breakfast spread! The breakfast noodle soup was fantastic and the rice meals were definitely tasty.

Verdict for Chaweng Regent

Overall, I liked our little Koh Samui hub. Granted, we only stayed for one day and the weather wasn’t the best, but the resort itself is beautiful and I can only imagine amazing things going on here when the sun’s out. The vibe was actually quite buzzy without being vulgar and loud, I think guests were quite respectful and the staff were quite mindful. I do like the quietness and the privacy of each room and villa and I think having a big patio was a plus, as well.

The surrounding area outside the resort is quite nice, too - it’s close to outlets, shops and pretty good restaurants. Outside by the beach, there’s a lot of beach clubs and bars by the stretch so you’re guaranteed to have a lot of choice if you want a little drink and a boogie. I’d definitely go back and stay here again when I land myself in Koh Samui!

Such a shame about the weather, but the hotel looks STUNNING! Love the bath and the wooden decor.

Koh Samui has fantastic resorts! I stayed in a different years ago, but I’ve always dreamt of ‘resort hopping’ there 😛 We only took a photo in Chaweng Beach then left. This resort seems like a great choice!
